Afternoon Noir

Join us every Monday afternoon at 2:00 pm for a flashback to the best of 40s cinema.

French film critics coined the term film noir to describe the dark (in both lighting and mood) movies popular in American cinema in the 1940s, filled with suspicion, anxiety, and menace. Join us every Monday all summer long  as we take a look at some of the classics of the genre, beginning with the one that started it all...

A complete list of titles may be obtained in the library, but here is a clue for the next showing:

After an unjust prison sentence, a young innocent gets mixed-up with hardened criminals and a violent escape. Based on the novel by Edward Anderson, directed by Nicholas Ray.  (1948), 95 minutes.

Reservations are not necessary. For further information, call (717) 243-4642 ext 3224. Screenings will be held in our Community Room. Snack and beverage machines are located adjacent to the Community Room for your convenience.
