Afternoon Noir

This summer could get a little steamy with a new movie series at Bosler! French film critics coined the term film noir to describe the dark (in both lighting and mood) movies popular in American cinema in the 1940s, filled with suspicion, anxiety, menace, and just a hint of sensuality. Many of these films were based on the hardboiled detective stories of Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, and James Cain made popular during the Depression, and featured good killers, bad detectives, and femmes fatales. Join us every Monday at 2:00 beginning on June 2 as we view some of the classics of the genre, beginning with the one that (arguably) started it all...

Our public performance license prohibits us from advertising film titles outside of the library. You can pick up a flyer at Bosler with the film titlesfor the series, or you can watch our website and facebook for hints about upcoming offerings. Reservations are not necessary. Click here for more information or call (717) 243-4642 ext 3224. Screenings will be held in our Community Room. Feel free to bring your own snacks.
