LeTort Spring Run and Nature Trail

Discover two of Carlisle’s natural treasures, the LeTort Spring Run and LeTort Nature Trail, at a free lecture.

Herb Weigl & Holly Smith of the LeTort Regional Authority will discuss the history of the stream that attracts fly fishermen from around the world and how the 2-mile nature trail that runs parallel to it offers a scenic and accessible respite for Carlisle residents and visitors. The two will also talk about the role LeTort Spring Rin plays in teaching Carlisle Area School District elementary students about water quality and what people can do to prevent pollution.

Smith has a bachelor’s degree in science and environmental education and a master’s degree in geoenvironmental studies from Shippensburg University. Weigl is the former owner of a fishing outfitter in Carlisle called Cold Spring Anglers.
